Badger Watching July 2007
Bad news any one who signed up for next weeks nude badger watching trip, the trip has been cancelled. Myself and the girls from the office went out last night and sat around until dawn and no badgers could be found. Several beavers were spotted, timid in day light but with no fear once the sun goes down. A census taken recently concludes that the once nearly extinct hairless beaver is now plentiful. |
Mexican Food Comes To Town June 2007 |
|
|
There has bee a lot of conjecture in town lately as to which Mexican restaurant is the best, news has reached us here at H H Q T that a large chain of Mexican restaurants are thinking of opening a branch in Hua Hin. WET BACKS has over thirty eateries in Mongolia and a drive in on Catford high street London. Specialising in Chilli Con Carne and what they describe as ribs with special sauce. Apparently before cooking each rib is massaged to ensure that each portion is tender to perfection. We are not sure if there is room for a fourth Mexican restaurant, but we wish them luck.

![]() August 2007 It is with great sadness the we have to announce that the original Honey Monster Cashier has packed her trunk and left for the circus. We wish her all the best and success in her new career. We are now looking for a new Honey Monster Cashier, she will be hard to replace but if you know anyone one who can count to nine and hold a blank and confused expression for eight hours a day we want to meet her. A not very attractive salary is on offer along with accommodation. Bring along your C V in your own handwriting if possible and not in crayon thank you. |

| Taxi's There's A Few |

A few people have sent emails this week asking, "how do I get a taxi
from Bangkok to Hua Hin". This is not as hard as it may seem. 1. Stand next to the kerb. 2. Wave at approaching taxi's until one stops. 3. Tell him Hua Hin please. 4. Get in. 5. Get out in Hua Hin These five steps work most of the time but there are a few different ways to get the same end result. If you want a taxi from the airport I always go up stairs to departures, when a taxi pulls up tell him where to go always on the metre if heading into Bangkok about 230 to 280 baht. Hua Hin 1800 to 2500 baht a lot of taxi drivers have never heard of H H but nearly all know where Phetchaburi is or Cha am. So its Phetchaburi plus little bit or nik noi, normally it takes one to three attempts. If you are staying in the city of Angels book the same taxi to take you to H H, don't be afraid to barter the price, 1800 is as cheap as it gets. At night it takes two hours and in the day time allow three. If you are feeling a bit flash you can fly about forty five minutes flying time, but with all the mucking around your mate will be in the bar necking a beer and getting an eyeful before the seat belt sign comes on. For those of you who like to drag your bags around Bangkok sweating and queuing up there's the bus or the train, the bus takes about three hours plus and the train takes anything from four hours to a week. I did it once and the thought of standing up for four hours plus has put me off ever since, the third class coach is just a little better than British Rail in the seventies there's no aircon because there's no windows the views are great and most of the uv is blocked by all the plastic bags flying around each side of the train. The bus is about 150 and the train is about 80 from memory. If going by bus at night remember to wear moon boots, salapets, gloves, scarf and bubble hat it is freezing. My last time on the bus I swear I got frost bite and a poor Thai lady fell out of the toilet when we went through some road works. There is now a mini bus service in both directions, I haven't tried this but after following a few on the highway it appears they lose face if they stay in one lane for more than thirty seconds you can spot a mini bus driver by the concrete blocks strapped to the bottom of his flip flops.

Police relax with a movie or two Police in one area of the restive south can now spend a hour or two relaxing with a movie. Officers have set up a vcd projector screen so they can relax from the stress of their duties. " New movies always draw a full house, such as Die Hard 4 which has to be run several times to meet demand". What a great ideal, only one problem has it been released on vcd. I'm on my way to our local Blockbusters to get a copy.

Update on last months raids, a local music industry insider said this week "We have no knowledge of any fines being levied against any bar or restaurant in Hua Hin and we would welcome any information related to this matter". Oh good that's solved then. |

Loy Krathong
Will be celebrated on the 24th of November. This festival is about casting your fears and worries away and paying respects to the goddess of water. Simple floats made of banana leaf with a candle and three sticks of incense are caste into rivers and the sea all over Thailand. Lately giant paper balloons are released into the sky small flames can be seen all over the night sky. Loy Krathong is one of the happiest days in the Thai year and a day when it really is the land of smiles. |
