Octopussy Bar

Octopussy
Hello Welcome!

This page is a look back in time to what the bar looked like in years past and to show what you can do with a few tons of concrete and a few hundred metres of tile. Most of the work was carried out in low season over seven years.

If you were one of our first customers way back when, you would find it hard to recognise the bar as it stands today. The covered area of the bar is now more than three times the size of the original, the floor has been raised through out so now there is no mass panic for sand bags at the first sign of rain. The building in the picture to the left was pulled down a few years ago and replaced with the extension that now runs the full length of the garden.

The back wall was removed in stages first the right side and then a few years later the left.

The kitchen which was on the second floor was then moved to the rear of the garden which is more than a metre higher than the original ground level, again it's easier to bury it than take it away the 50 inch projector TV now sits on top of this just in front of the kitchen.

History

YOU CAN'T BE FIRST BUT YOU CAN BE NEXT

The History Of Octopussy

After three days of clearing weeds which were over six feet tall we were left with a mountain of rubble. Never found out where it came from.

So what to do with all that rubble, well it may sound stupid but the best thing to do is bury it!

So this is what happens when you bury twenty tons of rubble

 under a layer of concrete

So we are open but there's no way into the garden

A little bit more time and of course money we had a door and a window

I liked the garden when it was like this, but we needed more room and a roof. You can just see the second pool table in the picture above, oh and the ladies wanted a toilet where the seat was always down, strange that.

On the right you can see the old toilets and kitchen of the Jam disco and bar.

This building came down about three years ago to make way for the extension that now runs the length of the bar.

The man! Uncle Nit deep in thought after a hard day building the bar. One of the best guys in the world who can make anything out of nothing and sometimes nothing out of everything. He always manages to find someone to put their hand down the sewer when the toilet blocks.

This photo is from 2006 and shows how much we have grown.

A big thank you to all our present and past customers, thanks for your support and a big hello welcome to our new and future customers.
