Singha brewed by the Boon Rawd brewery. If you walk into a bar and ask for a beer this is the one you will get, number two for sales in Thailand, but sold all over the world.

Not a bad beer but not a good one either, rumours of using the same chemicals in the brewing process as you would find in a undertakers tool kit have never been proven. Available in large or small bottles and on draught.

The other main brewer is Thai Beverage. Thai Bev sells the most whisky brands in Thailand and so controls the market, wholesalers have to buy Chang to be able to purchase Thai Bev's other products. Beer Chang is the peoples choice.

Beer in Thailand is sold in three groups high end premium beer middle of the range and lastly the low end user group. Chang is sold in this group and has an alcohol content of around 7.2, but still pays the least tax.

A strong beer this one too many and your evening could end a lot quicker than you first thought.  Good flavour and after taste best to eat first has maximum affect on an empty stomach.

Large and small bottles plus draught.

San Miguel Light is now brewed in Thailand brewed by extracting the urine from millions of gnats this is then tested for taste and flavour which if found are removed. Surprise surprise San Miguel Light actually sells quite well.

Now for premium beers brewed in Thailand, first off is Heineken the number one best selling foreign beer, different taste from it's European cousin crisp and clean taste. Medium alcohol most people can drink this stuff by the bucket, I do as I don't have opposable thumbs.

You can drive heavy machinery after a case of this stuff and most  people do.

Large and small bottles plus draught.

Tiger is fighting it out to be number one and I think it will win. but as it's made by Heineken it's a pride thing. On sale since 2004 Tiger Light is now being brewed here clean crisp with some after taste.

Large and small bottles plus draught.

IMPORTED BEERS

I'm not a big fan of bitters in cans if you know the names you already know the taste.

John Smiths in cans and now draught, Tetley's in cans only. Guinness and Kilkenny can be found locally on draught. A long with VB, Fosters,

Corona Extra is imported So it's dear double the price of San Miguel some people like it I find it a bit watery if you are going out to eat it's a nice beer with food also it makes me piss a lot which can upset the neighbours.

IMPORTED CIDERS

Cider is making a big come back in the UK and new brands are available in Thailand. Gaymers original in bottles plus Old English a medium sweet Cider.

Dry Blackthorn and Natch both dry Ciders from Somerset England. Strongbow comes in a couple of different flavours. Swedish ciders are on sale but not for a hardened cider drinker with flavours such as apple weird, strawberry, lemon and  pear these have none of a good ciders qualities are at best trendy yuppie drinks, a bit like trying to drink angel delight. We don't sell it, the stuff was harder to shift than shit on a blanket.

Imported And Local Spirits

The bar stocks a lot of these, for Thai whiskey there are a few brands. I can't remember them all but here are a few Sang thip, Golden Cat, Spey Royal, Crown Royal. These are whisky's made from rice I believe there's no E any more because the Sweaties don't like it. Sang Som and Mekhong are Rums believed to contain by many expats a class A drug, not true or not proven I hear you cry, up to you I say.

This is where Thai Bev takes control I'll try and list as many as I can.

Balantine, Black Cat, Black and white, Canadian Club, Crown, Chivas Regal, Famous Grouse, Glenfiddich, Highland Gold, J & B, Jameson, Johnny Walker Red, Green, Black, Blue, Master Blend, Teachers, White horse and as many again most are blended which to a Jock means crap I believe. I don't drink the stuff. My best mate did try to drink a bottle and a half of Teachers and orange squash once and woke up late for school.

So along with about twenty eight different Whiskies we sale all the other favourites five types of London Gin, Bombay Blue Sapphire, ten different Vodkas, Baileys, Cointreau, Tia Maria, Kahlua, Pernod, Paul Ricard, Pastis,  Malibu, Bacardi, Captain Morgan, Jack Daniels, Jim Beam, Wild Turkey, Sambuca, five different Tequilas, four Brandies etc etc etc. Enough to keep the average pisshead, sorry connoisseur happy. Well after that lot I'm knackered time for some Loa Khao and a bowl of dry mix see yah.
